The purple finches returned for their fifth year here, making their home in the lantern hanging over The PORCH door.
They don't seem to mind the activity at the shop door, and go about their daily business, which for now is feeding their babies (mom and dad both take turns). The lantern sways like a cradle in the breeze. They're friendly birds and have a nice song. One year, I did happen to see them taking their first flight - but more than likely we'll just find an 'empty nest' in a few days, and we'll miss them being around.
